An inclusive festival for young people aged 16 to 27. Taking place for the first time this year, from 26 October to 1 November 2026, at various locations across Munich. We want to create opportunities to experience events together and help shape them, regardless of background, gender or abilities.
All people aged 16 to 27 and cultural venues across Munich are warmly invited to take part. Submissions are possible via the open call until 13 September 2026. Would you rather just attend events? You'll find the selected events in the programme calendar from mid-September onwards.
Accessible means that barriers have been considered and reduced as much as possible. It also means clearly communicating any remaining barriers, so that people can quickly see whether they can attend an event. If you have questions or need support, mention it in your submission — we will support you in making your event more accessible.
Self-organised means that you do things on your own initiative. You don't receive instructions on what your event should look like; you plan your tasks and manage your time yourself, and you take responsibility for your event and your actions.
The festival is generally open to young people aged 16 and over. Most events end before midnight so that everyone can attend regardless of age. If an event runs longer, the rules of the German youth protection act apply — bring valid photo ID to be safe. Where alcohol is served, there's an age check at the door with coloured wristbands.
We're a small organising team with a limited budget. This year isn't about putting on a huge festival, but about making fair participation possible for everyone with the money available. How many events can happen depends partly on how self-organised they are and how much budget each one needs.
You'll receive an email confirming that we have received your submission. The review phase will then take place from 13 to 29 September 2026. During this time, we will contact everyone whose submission has been selected and let them know which event will take place at which venue.
What matters: the target group of 16–27-year-olds, whether barriers have been considered and reduced as far as possible, the level of self-organisation, the budget needed, feasibility (including matching the event with an available venue), and the content — how creative, accessible and diverse the event is.
The selection is made by an internal jury. Our organising team supports and accompanies the process.
We want people who put time and energy into an event to be paid fairly. That's why we specifically fund fees; beyond that we look at each event to see which costs come up (equipment, space and so on) and where our support makes the most difference.
There is no fixed maximum budget per event — it is adjusted according to what is needed. However, our total budget is limited, so we can mainly cover fees.
No. All events must be free to attend. Donations at the door are welcome, as long as they benefit the event.
Associations and funding agencies provide recommendations for fees: for funded events, the daily rate is typically around 200–600 €. We're thinking of a minimum expense allowance of 100 € per person. The more you know in advance about travel, technical, or material costs, the better.
Please let us know what obstacles you face; perhaps you need a ramp or someone to interpret in sign language. We work with various organisations and collaborate to find solutions. For select events, we use symbols to let guests know how accessible the event will be.
Need support that you couldn't note down in the open call? Just email us at einreichung@tagederjugendkulturen.de.
All events are free, most end by around 11:30 pm, and youth protection rules are followed at every venue. Schools, youth centres and associations can support the festival by spreading the word or by offering their own spaces; write to us at hallo@tagederjugendkulturen.de.
All events at Tage der Jugendkulturen are free of charge.
Information on whether registration is required for an event will be available from mid-September in the respective programme listing in the calendar.
From mid-September onwards, each event will include a description of its content, language, registration details and level of accessibility — clearly explained and marked with symbols.
Tage der Jugendkulturen is meant to grow into a self-organised youth festival that takes place in Munich every year. We're already thinking about next year's dates; they'll be published here as soon as they're set.
